Western Shadows
Western Shadows
“Western Shadows” is a meditation on strength, solitude, and the quiet poetry of the American West. Set in the sweeping landscapes of Colorado, this piece captures a woman on horseback, silhouetted against late-day light — both a rider and a witness to the land.
The title speaks to more than the literal play of light and form. It evokes the legacy of the West — its myths, its grit, and the unspoken stories that ride alongside us. In the long shadows of the plains and foothills, there’s a space where identity meets terrain.
With oil’s rich, earthy tones and deliberate brushwork, I aimed to honor the timeless relationship between human and horse, movement and stillness, strength and reflection. It’s not just about riding — it’s about riding through.
